One of the most interesting atolls is found in French Polynesia. It’s called Tikehau. The sands, depending on where on the beach one stands, can be pink or white. There’s one long strand of beach cresting one side of this particular atoll. The atoll is said to house more species of fish in its lagoon than any other in the French Polynesia chain.
An atoll, for those who don’t know, is a ring shaped island, reef, or chain of islands. They’re usually formed of coral. They’re often considered to be very pretty and worth visiting. Scientists often visit to see what they can find, and are often found in the Pacific Ocean more than anywhere else. Tikehau, for example, is in the Pacific Ocean.
