The large Mexican port which lies on the Gulf Coastal Plain is Veracruz. The Gulf Coastal Plain extends around the Gulf of Mexico and eastern Mexico while Veracruz is a large port city located on the Gulf of Mexico. Veracruz is not just a port, though. It is also a municipality and is home to a population of more than 500 thousand people. If we are talking about the Port of Veracruz, it is just about right to say that it is the largest and oldest port in Mexico and was the most important port in New Spain during the colonial period.
The port handles all kinds of cargo and even import and exports automobiles in Europe, South America, the United States of America and Central America.
