Many rivers flow between countries and states, but very few rivers are long and remain completely in one state. Kuskokwim River in Alaska does just that. It is a long river being over 700 miles long in distance but the entire river remains completely in Alaska. The river is located in the Kuskokwim Mountains and travels into a valley. There is the North Fork and the South Fork of the river.

Many trees and forests line the river. It also passes by many villages. Many people hunt animals for their fur along this river and fish. The salmon that is caught is used for the diets of the people who live near this river. When gold was discovered near this river, many more people began to move closer to this river.
