A bay is a large body of water that is surrounded on most of the sides except the point with a large opening. The aerial view of the resembles a "u" shape. A bay is a very popular area to live nearby. A bay allows more shoreline as much of the land is surrounded by water. Many wealthy houses are located on bays.

Examples of some bays include Hudson Bay in Canada. This bay is surrounded by both provinces in Canada as well as states in the USA. Another bay is Chesapeake Bay. Many bays have rivers that dump into them. The important thing about bays is they dump their water into a larger water body such as an ocean.
