When land needs to be built up, a builder may need to add dirt or soil to it. This building up of the land is called deposition. Sometimes, riverbanks and farmland may lose nutrients and soil due to erosion. When the wind constantly blows away the dirt, it needs to be replaced.

Therefore, the deposition of the land might need to take place to add soil to the land. Also, beaches and sand dunes have deposition because of the push of sand that is forced into several locations. This build-up of sand creates the deposition. Also, berms are created by dirt of sand in order to block something. The berm is intentionally made to build up the land to block something from going past it.
