This is the type of copper wire that is commonly used when home and business computers need to be connected to the telephone. This type of cabling is normally done in order to improve electromagnetic compatibility.

They say that this type of cable has been used for a long time and it may be considered a bit old as compared to the type of cables that are being used right now. The newer cords that are available right now may still have some twisted-pair cabling but used with other types of wiring depending on the main purpose of the wires.
