The father of Kamala Harris has Jamaican blood but he was never very open about talking about his Indian ancestry. It was Kamala Harris who allowed this to become obvious to the rest of the world. She has talked about the deep conversations that she has had with her grandfather whenever she visited India before the pandemic.

She talked about how she has shared her political views and how she waits for the input that her grandfather can provide. When people learned about this, they were naturally curious. They started looking for Harris’ family. A lot of people became really impressed by her ancestry and it may be one of the reasons why they voted for her.

Kamala Devi Harris was born on October 20, 1964. She is an American politician who is the current vice president-elect of the United States of America. Kamala Devi Harris was the first Indian American to serve as a U.S. senator.

In November 2020, she was elected as the vice president on a ticket with Joe Biden, and she is also the first female vice president-elect in the United States.

Kamala Harris got her Indian link from her mother. Kamala’s mother, Shamala Goplan, was born on December 7, 1938, and died on February 11, 2009. Shyamala Goplan was a biologist who worked in breast cancer research. Shyamalan Goplan arrived in the United States from Tamil Nadu, India, in 1958. In 1958, Shamala Goplan had become a graduate in nutrition and endocrinology at the University of California.

Kamala Harris is marking off many first history moments by becoming Vice President. She is the first woman and the first African American Vice President of the United States. She will also be the first Vice President of Indian descent. Her link to Indian heritage comes form her grandfather who was Indian.

Initially many people wanted to question Kamala Harris Indian heritage, but it has been proven many times that she has the heritage and will be the first Vice President in office to have this descent. It is a historic moment to have her in office, for it shows that it is still possible for people of all races and genders to hold a leadership role.

Kamala Harris has Indian link because her mother was from India. Her mother, Shyamala Gopalan, was born in India but migrated to the United States to continue her education at the University of California. Shyamala Gopalan moved to the United States to study and to make researches on breast cancer. However, Shyamala later met Donald Harris, an economist professor from Jamaica. Donald Harris was the father of Kamala Harris, but Donald and Shyamala separated when Kamala was 5. While most people didn't know this story about Kamala Harris, the news about her link to India became the talk of the town when Joe Biden picked her as his running mate. And eventually, Joe Biden and Harris defeated Donald Trump in the November 3 presidential election. As a result, Kamala has now become the first female US vice president-elect. This also makes her the first Indian American vice president-elect.

Harris is the daughter of her Jamaican born father and her Indian born mother. Harris’s extended Indian family comes from her mother’s side. Her mother was named Shyamala Gopalan, and she was born in Chennai. As a child, she was devoted to her uncle, Gopalan Balachandran. He and her mom taught Harris that leadership is a legacy. Her grandfather, P.V. Gopalan, was a highly esteemed diplomat who played a significant role in resettling refugees from East Pakistan in India following the partition war with Pakistan in 1971. Harris’s mother moved to America in 1958 to pursue graduate studies in California. Her mother had a significant impact on Kamala’s life and her choices.
