There are a lot of ways to recognize and to know if there are asbestos materials in your home, especially during home maintenance. The fact is you can do this all by yourself, and you can as well consult an expert.

There are a lot of ways to recognize and to know if there are asbestos materials in your home,
1. One of the things you can do on your own when trying to identity asbestos materials is to date them. Most houses that were built before the use of asbestos was banned are still likely to have asbestos materials. So, you can search for the name of the manufacturers of the products and other materials that you believe would contain asbestos materials. The idea is that most buildings that were built between 1950 and 1985 might still have the materials inside.

2. Check the surface patterns of the materials if they look like that of asbestos materials. The surface of most asbestos materials usually has small dimples. Seeing this will help to make a better judgment.

3. You can also check the exterior materials, most especially the ones used for roofing. By breaking them, you can easily confirm if they are truly asbestos materials if they release fibers into the air.

4. However, the best way to identify asbestos is to get an expert to do the job for you.
