The process of searching candidates for vacant positions is called recruitment, and selection is the process of selecting the best candidate from all applicants.

Recruitment and selection are terms used during the hiring process. Recruitment is a process that establishes contact between the employers and applicants, where aspiring applicants apply for the vacancy in an organization. The selection is a process of hiring the shortlisted candidates for the vacancy.

Recruitment is a simple process that involves a large number of candidates applying for a job, the selection process is complicated, and it leads to the rejection of the unsuitable candidate. Recruitment is the first step involved in the hiring process, which leads to the selection process. Little time and money are required; it also has a positive approach. The selection process comes after the recruitment process; it is an expensive process that consumes a lot of time.

The terms recruitment and selection are both associated with the job market. Recruitment is the process of securing the candidates who are being considered for a position. It also consists of preparing the eligible candidates to apply for the corresponding jobs. On the other hand, selection involves the steps an employer takes to find the right person for the job. These steps include screening and interviewing.

It has been said that the process of recruitment is positive, while selection tends to be a negative process since it entails the fear of being rejected. On the contrary, the selection is linked with a few running candidates regarding interviewing and the final tests. The significant difference between recruitment and selection is that recruitment is not indicated by any kind of contract between the two parties.

Recruitment and selection refer to the different phases in the employment process. Recruitment has to do with the process of inviting the public -those qualified for the job to submit their applications. This is to tell you that the recruitment process comes first. After which the selection process comes in. Selection refers to the process of screening those that have applied for the job. It is more of a rejection process where relatively most of the applicants are disqualified in order to select the best one or ones.

Those that are recruited would be screened, which is done mostly through oral interviews or written examinations. Note that the fact that you are fit to be recruited does not necessarily mean you will be selected. Only the best fit would be selected for the job based on the company's standard of selection. There are usually higher numbers of people who make recruitment compared to the number of those that ended up being selected.
