Triglycerides and cholesterol are two classifications of lipids that can be harmful to body health when taken in a high rate on a consistent basis. However, they both constitute the body nutrients makeup, and of which they serve some important roles in the development of the body. Cholesterol functions as the building blocks for the body cells, and is also an essential part of sex hormones, as in testosterone in men, and estrogen and progesterone in women.

In addition, cholesterol is responsible for producing the stress hormone that is both men and women, which referred to as cortisol. A must be mentioned the formation of bile by cholesterol, which helps to digest vitamins A, D, E, and K, and also digests fats.

On the other hand, triglycerides help generate energy in the body. Triglycerides are first stored in the liver and later processed into the body.
