Ticks and fleas are two external parasites that feed on the blood of hosts like reptiles, birds, amphibians, mammals for survival. If you have pets at home, most especially dogs and cats, they are mostly affected by the two parasites. Before going to differences, it is important to know that both are capable of causing certain diseases to other animals.

One of the major differences between the two is that both belong to differences classes i.e. ticks are arachnids because they belong to class arachnida, whereas fleas are insects. In terms of size, ticks are relatively bigger than fleas. There are about 900 other species of ticks, but species of fleas are not that common. Although, both ticks and fleas are commonly seen around pets, however, fleas are mostly found around pets whereas ticks can be found on any host once they themselves attached to the host, including pets.
