The Arctic and the Antarctic are considered to be the coldest regions of the world. A major difference that is very obvious is the difference in their geographical location; there are some other reasons both of them are on opposite sides of the world. The Arctic is known as the North Pole, and it is the Northern-most (topmost or farthest north) part of the globe.

The Antarctic is at the South Pole and is the Southern-most (lowest south) part of the globe. Polar bears are usually found in the Arctic, while penguins are found in the Antarctic region. The Antarctic is the home to one entire continent, while the Arctic is actually made up of many parts of eight different countries.

The temperatures in both regions are consistently below freezing point, but the lowest temperature that is on record was taken from Antarctica in the winter. Global warming is a factor that has an effect on both regions.
