It can be confusing in the beginning to know the difference between aplastic anemia and pancytopenia. Anemia is the condition wherein there are not enough red blood cells that can be found in the blood. Pancytopenia means that the person will not have enough red blood cells, white blood cells, and will also have a low platelet count. There are different reasons why a person may have pancytopenia.

For example, a person who has cancer may have this condition. A person who has a bone marrow disease may also experience this condition. Sometimes, the treatment for cancer, which is chemotherapy, can also cause this condition.
