Sodium Carbonate and Sodium Bicarbonate are two salts with sodium being a major constituent of the two compounds. The molecular formula for sodium carbonate is Na2CO3, while the molecular formula for Sodium Bicarbonate is NaHCO3. Apart from the little difference that can be seen in their molecular formula, there are a lot of other differences between the two compounds, especially in their uses.

Another name for Sodium carbonate is washing soda or ash, while sodium bicarbonate is also known as baking soda. Sodium carbonate is mostly used for a lot of domestic, commercial, and industrial processes compared to sodium bicarbonate. Both compounds exhibit certain chemical properties that classify them as a base.

However, sodium carbonate is a powerful base compared to sodium bicarbonate. Also, sodium carbonate is used mostly in different processes as a neutralizer, and it is equally a good conductor. On the other, sodium bicarbonate is used mostly as a cleaning agent, and it is used during cosmetics production as an exfoliating agent.
