Erosion and Corrosion are similar in some ways in that both are processes that affect the surface of an object or an entity. Both processes occur when the surface of an object or material is exposed to some factors. Erosion simply means the removal of the topsoil from the surface of the earth by factors like mechanical action, thermal expansion, and contraction, friction, etc.

Corrosion is also a process that causes the destruction of materials by chemical reaction. At times, corrosion is described as a form of erosion caused by chemical actions. While corrosion is a chemical process, erosion is more of a physical process.

Chemically speaking, when a metal becomes corroded, it has lost some electrons, especially if it gets exposed to oxygen or moisture. This process occurs through an oxidation reaction. On the other hand, erosion occurs when topsoil is exposed to natural forces like wind, water, etc.
