The filming locations for the motion picture, Top Gun: Maverick was San Diego, California, South Lake Tahoe, California, Naval Air Station Lemoore, California, and Los Angeles, California. Filming in San Diego, California, began in ay 2018.

The first day of shooting Top Gun: Maverick took place at the Naval Air Station in North Island, California. In mid-August, shooting relocated to the East Coast for at least a week.

Also, Tom Cruise was impressed with the way the movie was filmed. He said, "there will be big, fast machines." Abraham Lincoln is the fifth vessel of the Nimitz class nuclear-powered aircraft carriers. The vessel is homeported in Norfolk.
