DR and BCP are different kinds of plans used by organizations at certain times. DR is the acronym for Disaster Recovery. This type of plan is commonly used after a disaster has occurred. This plan helps organizations access the necessary technology and infrastructures after a disaster.

It is more of a reactive approach to damages such as flooded building or fire outbreak in the organization. The aim of disaster recovery is to restore the organization to operate normally. BCP stands for Business Continuity Plan.

Just as the name implies, this plan is used by organizations to continue business operations. BCP help prevents the possibility of business loss and anticipates disaster and unfavorable incident. BCR is more of a proactive strategy. It helps lessen the probability of damage.

An organization may only thrive if it utilizes specific strategies that will make it survive longer. Two of these policies are the BCP, and the DR. BCP is known as business continuity planning. DR stands for disaster recovery. Both plans help the organization from being disrupted from any variable, either internal or external.

BCP is all about the continuity of business. It is the state of being ready for any unplanned incident which can disturb the daily process or operation of companies and organizations alike. BCP is a preventative and proactive strategy of safeguarding business continuity. DR is a reactive approach. It is all about recovering from a disaster.

BCP and DR are two strategies or disciplines which are related because both of them are peripheral. BCP is known as Business Continuity Planning. It merely is the state of being ready for any unexpected incident that can disrupt the day to day activity or operation of businesses and organizations. It is a good strategy wherein the organization is guaranteed that it can always maintain its standards and service levels.

BCP is a preventative and proactive strategy of safeguarding business continuity. It helps in diminishing the probable harm that would have resulted if there were no safety preparations employed prior to the incident. DR is disaster recovery, and it is the strategy of intelligent improvement from a damaging incident of any magnitude. DR is the treatment given for a disease rather than a preventative measure.
