The festival Navratri is considered to be a religious festival that is done in order to commemorate the goddess Durga and all of the avatars that she has taken in order to fight the demon. For the first day, the avatar is the worshipped as the consort of Shiva. For the second day, the avatar signifies bliss, grace, and prosperity. For the third day, the goddess is worshipped for bravery. For the fourth day, the goddess is worshipped for being known to be the goddess of the universe.

For the fifth day, the bravery of mothers who would do anything to protect their children is worshipped, as shown by Skand Mata. For the sixth day, this is dedicated to Katyayani, who is dressed in orange and will always show courage. For the seventh day, this is dedicated to remembering peace and prayer. For the eight-day, this celebrates calmness and prosperity. Lastly, the ninth day celebrates supernatural healing powers.
