Solstice refers to one of the two times in a year when the sun is at its highest distance from the equator. The summer solstice is experienced in June, while winter solstice is experienced in December. Summer solstice causes people who are living in the northern hemisphere to experience the longest day and the shortest night in the year, and because of the movement of the earth around the sun, those who are living in the southern hemisphere will experience a shorter day and a longer night.

This is actually the reason why days get longer during the summer season, while nights get shorter. On the other hand, Winter solstice is a day in the year when those in the northern hemisphere experience the shortest day and the longest night in the year, while the southern hemisphere experiences the longest day but a shorter night. Winter season starts with the winter solstice, and because of this, nights seem longer while days get shorter.

A solstice is an occasion occurring when the sun appears to achieve its most northerly or southerly journey relative to the celestial equator on the celestial sphere. These two solstices occur annually, around June 21st and December 21st. The seasons of the year are dictated by mention to both the solstices and the equinoxes.

The day of the solstice is either the hemisphere has the maximum sunlight of the year (summer solstice) or the minimum sunlight of the year (winter solstice). June solstices and December solstice refer to when they take place every year. The word solstice is obtained from the Latin phrase "sun standstill," which is because, at the solstices, the sun appears to stand still upon the horizon.

Solstice refers to A solstice is an astronomical event that occurs during the year. Solstice is the period of the year when the Earth's pole tilt from the Sun is at its maximum, and the Sun's maximum elevation in the sky is at its lowest. The solstice occurs twice a year, once in each hemisphere (Northern and Southern hemisphere) of the earth.

The word solstice originate from two Latin words: "sol" meaning sun, and "sistere" to cause to stand still. During the solstice, the sun is at its greatest distance from the celestial equator. The winter solstice falls between December 20 and December 23 in the Northern hemisphere and between June 20 and 22 in the Southern hemisphere.

Solstice is a word that is used in order to describe both summer and winter. This is derived from the Latin word “sōlstitium,” which means “standing still of the sun.” Based on its meaning, some may say that this is more appropriate for summer than winter. Think about it this way, though, during the summer solstice, the sun is out and proud.

It is the longest day that people will experience, so it definitely gives the sun a chance to stand still. During the winter, though, the sun is standing still, but instead of being out like in the summer, it is hidden. People believe that this gives the sun a chance to regenerate so that it can become stronger again for the coming days.
