There are a lot of people who may not be familiar with Raksha Bandhan especially if they are not from India and other Southeast Asian countries but those who do know, believe that this is one of the most important events that they should attend.

This is not a national holiday so people can choose whether they would celebrate this or not. A lot of them believe that this is their chance to give blessings to each other. When the sister ties a rakhi on the wrist of her brother, she prays that the brother will become prosperous in life. She prays that he will become wealthy and healthy.
