Moisturizer is applied to the face to aid in the prevention and healing of dry skin or irritation. Moisturizer can be used in tandem with other face products to prevent or control acne, guard the skin against sun injury, or to give the skin particular minerals and vitamins, such as vitamin E. Moisturizers are specifically designed to carry essential vitamins and oils back into a person's face or skin.

The lotion is used on the legs, knees, elbows, and other parts of the body that may be dry. The significant difference between a lotion and a moisturizer is that a lotion blocks the moisture attribute of the skin and a moisturizer is substantially lighter in comparison to body lotions.
