Diamond and Graphite have a lot of things in common. Apart from the fact that they are both minerals, they are both made up of carbon, and they can be used for a lot of industrial activities. Another similarity is that; they are both solid with a very high melting point. However, you will still notice some differences between them.

The first notable difference is their physical appearance. Just by looking at the two, you can quickly identify which is which. In terms of hardness, diamond is very hard compared to Graphite. When you use the Mohs hardness scale, Graphite usually comes between 1 to 2, which means it is not as hard as a diamond, which is exactly 10. There is no doubt, diamond is one of the hardest minerals on earth, even if not the hardest of them all. Diamond is used as a valuable substance, and it is quite expensive, while Graphite is used for making a pencil
