Feminist archaeology is an angle of archaeology which gives a female or feminist, outlook and perspective in the interpretation of societies of the past. It is sometimes, but not always, gender-focused. It also takes into consideration things like race, class, or even sexuality. It is important in figuring out of old cultures but it has also received a lot of criticism as being useless or prejudiced.

Modern and Western are critiqued through this method and the values of past cultures and other important factors are discovered and studied within this type of archaeology. Perhaps it's the title "feminist" that pulls most of the opposition so maybe the name should be changed but certainly not the studies.
