Is Alice in Wonderland about drug abuse?

It is speculated by many that Alice in Wonderland is about drugs and drug abuse. It is hard to say because it was written as a book before drug use was as common as it is today or as it was in the days the movie first came out even. Still, there are multiple meanings for much of the story so...it is possible.

From hallucinations to smoking in some scenes, the connotations are there. There is even a song about drug abuse called "Go Ask Alice" and a movie by the same name that show the extent some believe the connection to be true. No one really knows for sure so it is left to be a matter of opinion.
