Alice in Wonderland is children's fiction, for sure. It can also be further classified as children's literature or children's fantasy. The author, Lewis Carroll was a genius when it came to putting his vivid imagination and plots down on paper. He brought the characters to life and as nutty as the story is, one of nonsense and folly, it somehow makes sense in a nonsense kind of way.

There are many behind the scenes puns and jokes. The book is a masterpiece and is a classic. It has been made into movies and has been read by millions of adults and children alike. In some ways, it is a genre all itself because no one can really match this book...ever! It marked the beginning of a whole new way of writing English American children's books. It sets the standard.
