The reason that the Pacific Ring of Fire exists has to do with the number of volcanoes that are known to exist today. They actually form a very large ring based on their location. This ring lines the outer shores of the Pacific Ocean traveling from Alaska down the western coast of the United States and the western coast of South America.

Then it travels over some islands off the coast of Australia and up several other islands and up to the eastern coast of Asia. Not only volcanoes are there, but they also have many earthquakes there because volcanoes often cause earthquakes. If there is an earthquake, it most likely to occur somewhere along the Ring of Fire because almost 4/5 of all earthquakes take place there.
