With the Pythagoreas theorem, you can figure out the hypotenuse side of a right triangle if you have the amounts for the other two sides. There is a belief that the Pythagoreas identified the first proof. However, it is not known for sure. So, it is believed that this is the oldest mathematical theorem.

Pythagoreas was a mathematician from ancient Greece who lived between 570 to 495 BC. So, he is definitely one of the oldest mathematicians. Similar to the belief about the first proof, this theorem is probably one of the oldest based on the owner’s age and when he lived. However, again just like the first proof, there is no direct evidence that this theorem is the oldest especially in ancient civilizations where very little written artifacts exist.
