Who discovered the Pythagoras Theorem first?

Named after himself, Pythagoras was a mathematician as well as other things. However, he is most well known for his Pythagorean Theorem. He was born in 569 BC and died sixty-nine years later in 500 B.C. He was born in Greece, but he traveled frequently to Egypt. He wasn’t the only person in Greece to be studying and enjoying math.

Instead, he created a group of people to study math and they were called the Brotherhood of the Pythagoreans. He discovered that if you have a right angle on a triangle and you have the lengths of two of the sides, then you can calculate the third side. Even though Pythagoras is credited with the theorem, hit is unknown if he is really the one who thought it up.
