In the year 2018, the CEO of Amazon owns 78.88 million shares of Amazon. There are some people who are speculating that he would lose a percentage of that when he goes through the divorce. His wife is the owner of about 16% shares of the company and time will tell if she would be able to hold on to that or what they would plan to do with this.

It is difficult to imagine that someone who owned such a large company would sell even a small part of it. Jeff Bezos is known as the founder of Amazon which means that at one time he probably had full ownership of it. Over time, like many businesses, parts of a business are sold for different reasons.

They may be wanting to use the money for other business ventures. At this time, Jeff Bezos only owns almost sixteen and a half percent of Amazon. That may seem like a small percentage of a business where he is the founder, chairman, CEO and president of, but he is still considered to be the majority shareholder. He actually sold a billion dollars worth of shares which equated to only one percent of the company.
