PayPal is an online service that allows consumers and businesses to transfer funds electronically. PayPal is a vehicle that can be used to pay or purchase items. Purchases could include sending or receiving payments for online auctions at eBay and other websites, buying or selling goods and services, making or accepting donations, or exchanging or sending funds to someone with their e-mail address.

For someone to receive funds, they must have an e-mail associated with a PayPal account. Basic PayPal accounts are free, and this includes all purchases from merchants that accept payments using PayPal. Possession of a PayPal account, allows you to add and withdraw funds in many different ways. You can match your account with bank accounts or credit cards for more direct transactions, including adding and removing money.
