No, civil Engineers do not become miners.
Civil engineering deals with design, construction and maintenance of physical and naturally built environments which includes works like roads, airports, bridges, sewage systems and pipelines construction.
Mining and geological engineers are the engineers that study the inner and outer surface of the earth to evaluate potential mining.
