Replacing white rice in your diet with brown rice may reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Brown rice is a whole grain, which is high in fiber and nutrients. Brown rice has a lower glycemic index than white rice, which means it doesn’t cause blood glucose levels to rise as rapidly.

Research has indicated that people who eat two or more servings of brown rice a week decrease their risk of the development type 2 diabetes than those who eat white rice, which if consumed in significant quantities, can lead to the beginning of type 2 diabetes. Brown rice also contains essential nutrients like magnesium and B-vitamins which are removed during the refining process. Brown rice also contains a lot of fiber, which can keep clean out your colon.
