Traditional Scottish bagpipe were made from animal skins like sheeps, cows, goat and dogs have been used over time but in our world today, plastics are used to make synthetic bags. The skin gotten from the animal is stitched together to make the bag.

Tropical hardwood from Africa and Brazil were used to construct the pipes. African blackwood and Brazilian rose wood were most preferred. Chanter and drones were made from hardwood like ebony.

In the 70's elephant ivory, walruses and narwhals were the materials use for ornamentation of the bagpipes but because these animals are now part of endangered species, their body parts are no longer used.
