I think it is difficult to pick just one woman to be called the founder of feminism because throughout history there have been many brave women fighting for women’s rights and challenging the traditional male dominated norms not just in the United States but also in Europe. Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony were clearly leading feminists during what is now considered the first wave of the feminist movement.

During the second wave, which covered the early 1960s through the late 1980s, famous feminists included Gloria Steinem and Susan Brownmiller. Wilhelmina Drucker was a radical Dutch feminist during the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.
