Yes, coffee will temporarily cause a “short but dramatic” increase in blood pressure. Researchers have a theory about why this happens but no concrete facts, yet. Scientists have also found differences in average blood pressure between those who regularly consume caffeinated drinks and those who don’t.

They have found some people will have higher average blood pressure and some won’t. Also, some people will develop a tolerance to caffeine resulting in no long-term effects on their blood pressure.
