Take note that Machiavellianism is not considered a disorder mainly because it borders on being manipulative which is something that people do every day even if they do not realize it. You have the tendency to become manipulative as a parent. You may also have the tendency to become manipulative as a businessman. This type of personality is not perfectly defined yet.

There are still some things that psychologists are trying to understand about it so that it can be easier to understand and define. Until then, it will not be considered a true disorder yet. Only time will tell if it would become classified as an actual disorder and not just a trait.
