Elvis wanted to tour overseas and outside of the United States, but his manager, Colonel Tom Parker wouldn't let him. Parker was an illegal alien and he feared that this would be discovered by border agents, customs agents, and even the IRS. Parker also told Elvis that the venues overseas were not large enough and that his life would be in danger.

Parker had received several offers for Elvis to tour outside of North America; however, none of them came to fruition. He even turned down the shows to be held with the great Egyptian pyramids in the backdrop, which would have guaranteed Elvis two million dollars. Elvis harbored some resentment toward Parker because there were certain things he wanted to do, but he couldn't because of Parker.
