Often times a band will gain notoriety and fame and fortune and then disappear. They will produce no more albums or songs. The reason may be that they are trying and their songs just aren’t popular any more. It could be that certain main members of the band may leave or get mad and quit. Others just can’t handle the fame and quit. Some of the bands that disappeared include Tonic.
Even though Tonic wasn’t a one-hit wonder because they created two songs that made it big, they disappeared after less than ten years on the music scene. The other bands that disappeared include Soul Asylum with their hit “Runaway Train,”, Collective Soul with their hit “The World I know” and Sponge.
Tonic didn’t make a splash until later in the 1990’s. They produced two giant hits with “Open up your eyes.” And “If you could only see.” Soul Asylum had a pretty decent resume of music but then went into obscurity. The Smiths were also big in the 80's, but then they fell off the radar.
The B52's were an 80's band that reached the pinnacle of its success with the songs, "Love Shack" and "Rock Lobster." However, it did not see much mainstream success after this. The Wallflowers were pretty big in the 90's, and then they virtually disappeared.
