It is evident that the target of Facebook is the same with that of MySpace. MySpace was able to gain dominance over Friendster in the past. Eventually, Friendster closed down and MySpace took over. The main reason why Facebook has dominated over MySpace is mainly that of the number of users that signed up for Facebook.
Facebook became distributed in various parts of the US and even in other countries. It has allowed people to truly speak with each other. Facebook is actually an accidental hit. The more that it has adjusted depending on what people want, the more that people have become endeared to try it over MySpace.
The main reason that Facebook was able to overtake MySpace is that they were able to build on the faults that MySpace had. One, Facebook was able to make their presentation more user friendly and their interface was a lot more easier to navigate. MySpace was popular when it first made its debut but once Facebook came out with an alternative product, the fanfare slowly but surely started to drift in the way of Facebook.
People tried to keep up with both their MySpace and Facebook accounts at first but in the end the majority of people opted to go with Facebook thus making MySpace obsolete and bringing an end to the social media site. Facebook was able to overtake MySpace because consumers wanted a new product and they were able to get it with Facebook. That popularity has sustained itself and it is highly doubtful that any other social media venture in the future will be able to overtake Facebook.
