In a perfect world, people will not need any devices to communicate with each other. Instead, I believe that they will be able to communicate directly with their brains via telepathy. In such a world, the level of research put in metaphysics would be so high that it would become normal for one to use telepathy and similar mental techniques in their daily life.
This would also mean that the consciousness would be highly elevated and that the human mind would be far more capable than it actually is. Communication via brain might also allow people to connect with each other better.
