Golf balls have dimples because it improves its flight. When a golf ball is hit, air clings to its indentations and creates turbulence which increases its speed. Not just that it decreases the chance of separation of air from the surface of the ball which is important for a good flight.

If a golf ball doesn’t have dimples, the air around the ball will have no turbulence and the air will quickly separate from the surface of the ball. In this case the golf ball will cover reduced distance at a slower pace.

Very simple, the dimples increase the rotation of the ball due to smaller dimples rotation faster through the trajectory.

So that they cant go far but if it has then it will decrease the amount of slipping though make the ball go in the hole.

Dimpleon agolf ballcreate a thin turbulent boundary layer of air that clings to theball'surface. This allows the smoothly flowing air to follow theball'ssurface a little farther around the back side of theball, there by decreasing the size of the wake

The dimples are to create a thin turbulent boundary layer of air that clings to the balls surface. A golf ball without dimples can't have flight. A ball without dimples wouldn't fly half as far.

Because they wanna look cute! JK! They have dimples so that they can stop instead of endlessly rolling until momentum runs out or they hit something!
