Enterprise resource planning (erp) software design improvement – example: a manager notices specific software module that is used less frequently than needed. they incorporate a system of feedback, social elements, and points for use, correct use, and helping others into the software module.-2. health support tools – example: a sensor that can attach and fit in your pocket provides exercisers with detailed and transparent information about their daily activities, goals for progression and mastery, and social elements to share or compare data with peers-3. incentivized knowledge management – example: an online community for it questions and support uses a community reputation management system that assigns points and badges to users based on over 20 desired actions or behaviors completed by users-4. software mastery programs – example: complex photo editing software uses missions and challenges to increase use of features, help new users excel, and to convert trial users to long term customers-gamification focuses on non-game application. the edges can be blurred in complex design, but in an industry as new as gamification blurring the edges usually creates confusion. it also blocks people from creatively thinking about new applications. people might jump past the critical design and performance assessment phases when they are locked into adding a game to everything. games are not gamification video games are not gamification advergames are not gamification funware is not gamification serious games are not gamification simulations are not gamification (and as an aside, simulations are not serious games) war games are not gamification alternate reality games are not gamification transmedia games are not gamification using a joystick as a control device, is not gamification virtual worlds are not gamification adding one game mechanic is not gamification adding just badges, or points, or a leaderboard is not gamification just integrating an api to your website or app is not gamification giving away an ipad is not gamification your child playing angry birds on their iphone is not gamification gamification is not sure-fire method for success gamification is not predominantly a technical solution gamification is not going to fix things that are inherently worthless and unengagingno partial credit. think of this question as your final exam. its worth half of your grade.
