ROM stands for reading only memory. It is a permanent type of memory in which the content is not lost when the power supply is switched off. There are different types of ROM, which include erasable programmable read-only memory, programmable read-only memory, electrically erasable programmable read only memory, and mask ROM.
The processor can directly access the information that is stored in the ROM.
The characteristics of the ROM include:
1. A ROM is nonvolatile memory stores only several megabytes of data, up to 4MB or per chip
2. A ROM widely used mainly in the start-up process of a modern computer
3. you can write your data only once, and after writing, you can read your data any number of times.
