How do you make buttermilk?

You can always find buttermilk being sold at your local grocery store. It is normally found in the dairy section with regular cows milk, cream and goats milk. Just in case you have a wonderful breakfast of buttermilk pancakes or waffles planned but you find you have run out, do not worry! Making buttermilk is actually quite easy. Here is an easy way to make buttermilk right at home without having to go to the store.

The only ingredients you will need (there are only two of them!) are milk and fresh lemon or vinegar. Put one cup of milk into a bowl and stir a tablespoon or two of lemon juice or white vinegar (according to how bitter you want it) and stir. Once the milk starts to curdle, you can use it in place of buttermilk in a recipe!
