You should take a pregnancy test if you haven’t had a period in three months, and that’s unusual for you. Those who have issues with regular periods without birth control don’t need to worry about this fixed timeline. Another reason to take a pregnancy test is if you’re a heavy drinker or a smoker, as both of these activities can harm your unborn child if you’re unaware and continue to do it. Unexplained vomiting could be another reason to try if you have no fever or other signs of illness.

Those who don’t have regular periods without a form of birth control should get one if they’re about to go on the pill, if they need to jump start their period (to make sure they’re not doing any harm to the body or a baby), and if they’re worried.
