Real classification -medicine-hematological malignancies-in 1994, the international lymphoma group developed a consensus on a list of disease that could be recognize by pathologist and that appear to be distinct clinical entity, based on this they created the revised european- american classification of lymphoid neoplasm (real). in 1997 members of european and american hematopathology society published a new who classification of hematologic malignancies. this uses an updated version of real classification and applies the principles of real classification to the classification of myeloid and histocytic neoplasm too. the project included a clinical advisory committee of international expert hematologist and oncologist. proponents of prior classification: working formulation, kiel, real and french- american. british are in agreement that the who concensus classification should replace existing classification. remember: who classification represents the first true international consensus on the classification of hematologic malignancies.
