Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs was proposed by Abraham Maslow. The theory is very popular in psychology. Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs is divided into five levels displayed in a pyramid. The important need is displayed at the bottom of the pyramid, and the least important need is at the top of the pyramid. At the bottom of the pyramid are basic physiological needs. This includes basic needs for survival, such as food, water, shelter, and cloth.

This is the top hierarchy on the pyramid. Next is a safety and security need: after our basic needs are met, the next thing we need is security. This could be financial security, job security, and safety in the environment. The third is a social need. At this level, a sense of belonging is needed. Some factors that satisfy this level include love, family, acceptance, friendship, affections, and social groups. The fourth and the fifth stages, which are the most complex, are esteem needs and self-actualization needs, respectively.

Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs state the things that people would like to have and achieve first before they can move on to the next rank. The basic needs of people to survive will be listed at the bottom. After that, they would start to aim for things that can help improve their safety and security in this world, such as having a job, being stable, and so much more.

After they have satisfied this need, they will move on to another stage, which can help them feel more loved and belong. After they have felt a sense of belonging, they would start to work on their self-esteem. They would like to value their strength and their freedom to do what they want. After that, they can become the person that they have always wanted to be.
