The average lifespan of a cat depends on the conditions in which it lives. Cats that live outside and are left to their own devices in the wild live about 4 to 5 years. However, house cats that are well taken care of and spend most of thier time indoors live an average of 13 to 17 years. It is not uncommon for cats to live up to 20 years.
The oldest recorded cat was a cat named Cream Puff from Texas. Cream Puff lived 38 years and 3 days. Although Cream Puff was definitely an excetion if you take care of your cat and make sure they have a heakthy diet and lifetstyle you can easily expect for them to be able to live into their late teens.
