What is the relation between the big toe and the little toe?

The relationship between the big toe and the little toe is medial, or lateral, depending on which way you’re going down the foot. From the little toe to the big toe, it’s medial; the other way around, it’s lateral. That’s really all it is, and there’s a good reason for that. The word “medial” comes from a Latin term that means “middle”.

So if something is medial, it’s somewhere in the middle of an arrangement. “Lateral”, on the other hand, is to the side. Often, it means to the left in relation to the middle, but it could also mean that this item is to the right, depending on the context. That’s the relationship between the big toe and the little toe in a nutshell.
