Yes, Mexican food can be healthy for you. Just because Mexican dishes are known for dishes that are high in carbohydrates and fat, it does not necessarily mean that they don’t offer foods that are packed with nutrients that can make you stronger and healthier. If you really want to try out healthy Mexican food, try to avoid the following: Refried beans, tortillas, cheese enchilada, burrito, tacos, quesadilla, pork carnitas, falutas, chimichangas, chorizo sausage and nachos because these are all high in carbs.

However, you can choose some of the following: Tortilla soup, guacamole, vegetables, grilled shrimp salad, soft chicken tacos, lettuce tacos, grilled fish taco, and vegetarian burrito. These foods are high in fiber, protein and healthy omega-3 fatty acids.
